A floorball at the Olympics in Tokyo 2020?

A total of 26 International Federations (IF) submit applications for inclusion as additional events in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Among these Federations has shown International Floorball Federation (IFF), who will try to get to the Olympics.

Review of the applications will be based on the following key principles:
・The additional event(s) will serve as a driving force to promote the Olympic Movement and its values, with a focus on youth appeal
・The additional event(s) will add value to the Games by engaging the Japanese population and new audiences worldwide, reflecting the Tokyo 2020 Games vision
・The selection procedure will be open and fair

On the 22nd of June a shorten list was revealed who goes to the second phase. The second phase will be based on the presentation made by the IF who goes through. This presentation will take place in Tokyo in the early August. On the 30th September the events who goes through the Phase II will be known and afterwards these events will be proposed at the Organising Committee, which will make a final decision on the successful event(s) in August 2016.

How did it end up?

Eight sports went through the first phase, but floorball was not included. According to the IFF secretary, John Liljelund, it was important that IFF has shown effort to be part of the Olympic sports.
